Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE)

Orange County Government and the State of Florida provides a free; 24 hours-a-day automated telephone service called VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) 1-877-846-3435 or via the internet at www.vinelink.com. VINE is an automated system that victims and the general public can use to find out the status of any inmate in the Orange County Jail, most other Florida jails, the Florida Department of Corrections (state prison system) and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Centers, and sign up to be automatically notified if the offender's status changes.

While VINE is highly reliable, there is always the possibility of technical or human errors. The system is yet another tool to help victims make informed choices about personal safety. You should not rely solely on the VINE system or any other information system for your protection.

This program will provide four options for registration:

  • Registration through the arresting agency for telephone and letter notification
  • Automated registration through the toll-free VINE hotline for telephone notification only
  • Operator-assisted registration through the VINE hotline for telephone and letter notification
  • Via the internet at www.vinelink.com.

Registration through an arresting agency

This method of VINE registration applies to crime victims only. The investigating or arresting officer must collect complete and accurate victim information including name, mailing address and telephone number. The victim information is entered into the Orange County Jailtrac system at the time of booking the inmate. The arresting officer will assign victims registered by the arresting agency an initial PIN code.

Note: Victims who are automatically registered by the arresting agency may call the VINE hotline and change their PIN to a confidential number. Updates to a registration information are the victim's responsibility and must be made directly with VINE through the toll-free hotline.

Automated telephone registration for telephone notifications only

Victims and the general public may call the toll-free VINE hotline and register with the automated system for any inmate regardless of charge. This fully anonymous service provides telephone notification only. When registering, callers can provide a maximum of two telephone numbers where they want the notification calls to go and a four-digit PIN code of their choosing.

Steps to use VINE:

  • Call 1-877-846-3435 from a touch-tone phone
  • You must provide the inmate's full name. If it is a common name (Smith, Jones, etc.) You may be asked to provide their date of birth. Or you may speak to a VINE operator for assistance.
  • If you know the inmate's booking number you may provide this instead of the name. A booking is an eight digit number (00012345)
  • Once VINE has confirmed that the inmate is in custody, you will be given the option registering to receive an automatic notification by telephone. Your registration is anonymous. If you do not wish to register, simply hang up the telephone.
  • You register you will be asked to provide one or more telephone number where you wish to be notified. The VINE system cannot contact pagers.
  • You will be asked to select a four digit "PIN" (personal identification number, similar to a PIN number used for a bankcard) When VINE contact you, you must respond by keying in the PIN number

Operated-assisted registration for telephone and letter notification

Victims and the general public may register for telephone and letter notification by calling the VINE hotline and speaking with an operator. The operator will collect the registration information including the caller's name, address, phone number and PIN code. This is not an anonymous service, however all information is strictly confidential and protected. Registrants will receive a notification letter as long as they keep their mailing address accurate with VINE.
